Scripture Meditation - Knowing He Is God - Psalm 46:10
5:19

It's a Monday and that means it's time for our Scripture meditation, where we hit the pause button on the distractions, worries, and the to-do list of life and tune into God's word, applying it to our life right here, right now, in the present moment for this day and the week to come. So, here's your cue that it's time to get centered and focus on Him.

Get your body in a comfortable, safe space and let your mind relax as you focus and take in some cleansing breaths that let the tension on the exhale release. For today's meditation, we are referring to Psalm 46:10, and that is the familiar verse, Be still and know that I am God. I want to share with you the concept that being still is basically like, to me, the most wonderful, freeing thing. It's like, Michelle, you don't have to do anything. Just be and be still. Exist and do nothing but know that I'm God. Like, it's just so easy, so simple. Just be and do nothing other than knowing who I am and how simple that is to make all of life be under his lordship because He's got it. He's God.

So, there's this technique that a counselor friend of mine shared with me a while back, and I've had it in my counselor toolbox for a while now, and I really love it. Basically, it's saying this verse all the way through and then saying just some portion of the words and focusing on what that means. And we take away and add words as we do this.

I just invite you to repeat after me, and as you do, I'm going to segment this verse in different ways and just repeat after me. And notice as you focus on the words and the meaning, what that does to your connection to the words and to who God is. Start with the whole thing here:

Be still and know that I am God.

Be still and know that I am.

Be still and know that I.

Be still and know that.

Be still and know.

Be still.

Be.

Be still.

Be still and know.

Be still and know that.

Be still and know that I.

Be still and know that I am.

Be still and know that I am God.

Now you have that for your tool chest. It's a very simple, easy way to focus and meditate on the truth of who God is and the scripture that tells us what to do, to acknowledge that, to cease our own activity, and to just be still and know He is God. We are not. He's got it. We don't have to. We're His. He made us.

We are the creation. He is the Creator. He's got it all, okay? He's got us in the palm of His hands. And I hope that brings you peace and joy and allows you to go take on the day. And if you need to pull this out of your pocket and use it anytime today or this week, you're not going to wear it out enjoy it. Be still and know that He is God. Go take on the day.
